The name of the Museum came from ancient Egyptian Nbu, (means Gold), referring to the area’s famous gold mines.

The museum was designed by Mahmoud Al Hakim who succeeded to create the building of the museum in harmony with the surrounding setting that consisted of huge rocks, small mountains, and the shining sun of Aswan. And it is considered to be a gateway in the history of Nubia that enables the visitors to understand the complex history of this unique area. Each exhibit have a description note underneath it written in the Arabic and as well in the English languages.

The garden of the museum hosts more than eighty historical statues and historical rocks, some of them belong to the gods of ancient Nubia. There are also some artificial lakes and waterfalls that serve as a demo of the river Nile and its flow to the lands of Nubia.

During the tour you will enjoy scenes of Nubian life demonstrated with a range of life-size displays.

High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple

                Full Day Tour

                Tour Description

Saga Travel representative will pickup you today for a mixing tour, you will start by visiting the High Dam, an engineering miracle built between 1960 and 1976 to protect Egypt from annual floods from the Nile. Construction of the Aswan High Dam commenced in 1960 and just four years later, the first phase was reached and the Lake Nasser reservoir began to fill. The High Dam finally completed in its entirety by 1976. More than 35,000 people were involved in constructing Dam, which has become a huge source of energy in Egypt, and before the floodwaters of Lake Nasser arrived, no less than 24 different major archeological sites and temples were successfully relocated, so that they would not be lost beneath the waters forever.

After that proceed to visit the Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan Northern Quarries, which shows the techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to cut obelisks. Historically, the quarries of Aswan became the number one source of granite in Egypt and this particular partly carved obelisk has become one of the city’s most famous ancient tourists attractions.

Offering a true insight into the Egyptian past craft of stone carving, the Unfinished Obelisk is huge and measures almost 50 meters / 160 feet and remains in this state after being abandoned when a noticeable crack appeared in the granite.

Then we board a motor boat sailing on the Nile to reach an island to visit a beautiful temple on this island, the Temple of Philae, which was built by Ancient Egyptians for the Goddess Isis on Philae island, but the temple became submerged after the first Aswan dam was built in 1906, and it was not until the seventies that many nations attempted to save the Temple. All these countries, together with UNESCO, selected a suitable place, but they had to wait until the completion of the High Dam, in 1971, which would stabilize the level of the water around their chosen island. The new island was called Egilica (also called Agilika), and it was completely reshaped to imitate Philae Island as closely as possible.

After that, we will board  our motor boat to sail back to city of Aswan and transfer back to hotel

Saga Travel representative will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Abydos to start discovering the ancient Egyptian believed of god (Lord of the underworld) to be buried there.

The temple was built by King Seti I, and completed by King Ramesses II, known as temple of Seti I. It is located in Abydos city which is around 135 km from Luxor.

The paintings of the Gods and Pharaohs on the walls of the Osiris Temple at Abydos are among the most beautifully preserved in Egypt.

Then continue to Dandara to visit the Temple of Hathor, goddess of love and joy.

The whole temple complex covers some 40,000 square meters and is surrounded by a hefty mud brick enclosed wall. Dendera was a site for chapels or shrines from the beginning of history of ancient Egypt. It seems that pharaoh Pepi I (ca. 2250 BC) built on this site and evidence exists of a temple in the eighteenth dynasty (ca 1500 BC). But the earliest extant building in the compound today is the Mammisi raised by Nectanebo II – last of the native pharaohs (360-343 BC).

After that you will be transferred back to your hotel Luxor
